Excel files sent using send files by email feature
Resolved - The issue affecting Excel and CSV files has now been resolved.

Excel and CSV files attached to email templates on the Notify website between Friday 25 September at 10:09am and Wednesday 21 October at 10:26am will need to be removed and re-added.

We will directly contact services who have been affected to advise them of the actions they need to take.

Update - We are in the process of testing a solution.

Currently, recipients may not be able to open Excel and CSV files sent by email.

This issue only affects files sent from the Notify website.

It does not affect files sent using the Notify API.

The issue only affects Excel and CSV files. Other files will still open correctly.

We will contact all affected users once the issue is resolved.

We will post our next update by midday tomorrow, Wednesday 21 October 2026.

Identified - We have identified the problem and are working on a fix.

Recipients may not be able to open Excel and CSV files sent by email.

This issue only affects files sent from the Notify website.

It does not affect files sent using the Notify API.

The issue only affects Excel and CSV files. Other files will still open correctly.

We will contact all affected users once the issue is resolved.

We will post our next update by 5:30pm today.

Investigating - We are investigating an issue with the Notify send files by email feature.

Excel files attached as a secure download link in an email using the “send files by email” feature may not open when the recipient downloads the file.

Other file types are unaffected.

Excel files sent via the Notify API are not affected.

We will provide a further update by 12:00 on 20 October 2026.
